When meeting with a client, I often hear objections to their StrengthsFinder results:
- "I don't like my Strengths!"
- "Some of my Strengths don't seem right"
- "I used to be like that but those Strengths are no longer accurate"
Are the StrengthsFinder results wrong?
According to Gallup's research, the results are 98.9% accurate the first time you take the psychometric StrengthsFinder assessment. That's a great number! It's a solid "A" if we were grading the test. Given the high percentage of accuracy, why do so many people object to their results?
The truth about your StrengthsFinder results
In all cases, after providing feedback and helping people really understand the mix of their five Strengths, these objections disappeared. Knowing your Strengths list and truly understanding your Strengths mix are two different things. It's hard to fully understand the unique value and meaning of your Strengths by just reading the descriptions. Sometimes a word or prhase does not apply. Sometimes the way the combination of Strengths functions is not readily apparent. Investing in really understanding your Strengths is, to quote a well-known commercial, priceless!
I love, truly love, helping people understand and embrace their Strengths. Once people realize how amazing they are, their eyes are opened to new possibilities. It's fantastic when someone understands what makes them unique. Just check out what Gregory experienced!
Set free to be, well... YOU!
The result is that people are freed to be themselves. You are freed to be YOU! And I am freed to be ME! That's the true gift of understanding your StrengthsFinder results. It really is wonderful.
Do you like yours? Do you understand your Strengths mix?
