It starts with great assessment tools

We use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

Semper Vita Institute (SVI) utilizes the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment to allow clients to discover and maximize their life, energy, information and decision-making preferences.

Developed by Isabel Briggs Myers and Katherine Myers, a mother-daughter team, the MBTI has been used for decades as a reliable self-assessment to indicate core elements of your personality and way of living. Based on the theories of Carl Jung, this personality inventory measures how a person re-energizes, gathers data, makes decisions, and approaches life in general. The intent for the MBTI is that everyone can discover their personality type and begin integrating that knowledge into their daily life.

SVI uses a 20-minute, self-paced, online experience to determine your MBTI type preferences. This self-report questionnaire is the starting point for the full discovery of your approach to all aspects of your life. Learning the full meaning of your MBTI preferences helps you understand life, relationships, needs at work, preferred work environment, appropriate careers and jobs, reactions to stress, and even your approach to fun and leisure.

The MBTI inventory and feedback helps you to identify your specific gifts and preferences. This enhances your understanding of yourself, your motivations, natural strengths and potential growth areas. It will also help you appreciate other people and how they are different.

We use Gallup's StrengthsFinder to identify your top 5 talents.

StrengthsFinder-2.0SVI utilizes The Gallup Organization's Clifton StrengthsFinder (StrengthsFinder) assessment to allow clients to discover their top 5 dominant talents and develop them successfully into strengths.

Developed by Donald Clifton and The Gallup Organization, StrengthsFinder assesses a person’s natural talents themes based on the perspective of Positive Psychology.

Taking a strength improvement theory approach rather than weakness fixing, StrengthsFinder focuses on uncovering those natural talent themes that have the most potential to be developed into strengths. A talent theme becomes a strength when a person can deliver a near-perfect performance almost every time.

The assessment is based on over 30 years of research.

Over the last 30 years, The Gallup Organization has done a systematic study of excellence. They talked to top performers in various fields and industries to uncover the key to maximizing potential. (At last count, they’ve conducted over 3,000,000 interviews in 48 countries.)

The researchers found a diversity of knowledge, skill and abilities, but soon discovered clear patterns among the top performers. Clifton and fellow researchers identified 34 strength, or talent, themes that everyone shares. These talent themes represent the range for potential excellence and superior performance. Each person has all 34 talent themes, but in a different order and intensity. The potential for excellence lies in unleashing the top talent themes into strengths.

A person’s top five of these 34 talent themes offer the most potential for development into strengths, success in their usage and enjoyment of life.

The online assessment reveals your top 5 talent themes.

StrengthsFinder is an online psychometric assessment—i.e., it measures your instinctive responses. Each question must be answered within 20 seconds. The entire assessment takes about 20-30 minutes, and the results are immediately provided.

The assessment results reveal your top 5 talent themes. These are called your "signature" (or dominant) themes. The order and potential of your five signature themes makes you one in 33.5 million people who has your signature themes that way. When you apply knowledge and skill to your top five themes, you can develop them into strengths. Living in these strengths offers you the greatest potential for success, satisfaction and maximum impact in life.
