I have an interesting history with the StrengthsFinder and Myers-Briggs assessments. In college, for one of my business classes, I was forced to take the Myers-Briggs assessment. I was reluctant - not because it was hard or time consuming - but because I already “knew myself.” What 21- year-old male doesn’t, right?
Fast forward 6 years, and my results from the exact same assessment are mostly identical, with a few changes that I am positive have been shaped by life experiences between then and now. What is different, though, is how the same message has been communicated so differently. I can tell you that after taking the assessment the first time, I appreciated very much the message of the results because it was right on. It made sense. It reflected me. That was the end of the story.
I was again reluctant to take the StrengthsFinders and Myers-Briggs for my company because I had "been there, done that." I knew how this story ended - or at least I thought I did. The difference?
